United Wilson Chinoiserie Yellow & Indigo Cherub Cachepot with Underplate
An enchanting narrative piece, layering rich neo-classical imagery with bold, sun-drenched European character.
Vintage United Wilson Chinoiserie Yellow & Indigo Cherub Cachepot with Underplate
Hand-selected for its spectacular dual-tone palette and distinctive silhouette, this vintage porcelain cachepot and matching underplate set is a striking curation from the United Wilson Porcelain Factory (JUWC). The multi-lobed, organic form is enveloped in a vibrant, egg-yolk yellow glaze, setting a high-contrast stage for the detailed indigo-blue transferware scenes sweeping across the front and rear faces.
The central graphic panels depict classical, light-hearted cherubs dancing alongside swirling acanthus leaves and grounding an ornamental bouquet basket. The undulating rim lines are framed with a deep indigo border, which is beautifully mirrored across the matching wavy drainage stand.
Note on character: To expand its utility beyond a traditional decorative mantle pot, a previous custodian meticulously added a central drainage hole through the base of the cachepot and the center of the underplate. The edge of the hole shows minor, authentic glaze chipping from the drilling process, which is completely hidden from view when styled. Rather than distracting from its beauty, this post-production upgrade makes it perfectly functional to house live botanicals or small ferns directly on a sunlit console, bookshelf, or dresser.
